An initiative to eliminate any potential write-offs associated with Excess and Obsolescence of the products which have reached their useful end of life. Architected a well-defined process by which products transition through a series of well-defined steps:
- Establishment of definition of terminology such as End of Sale, End of Support, End of Service life so the full burden of supporting End of Sale products can be understood by internal and external customers.
- Guidelines around demand planning and forecasting
- Tracking of the full corporate exposure associated with disti and corporate finished goods as well as supply base exposure at the ODM
- Creation of standard Fire Sale Promotions to accelerate the burndown on inventory
- Creation of specific governance bodies who have decision making authority around fire sale discounting, commission accelerants, and promotions.
Result: A decrease of >80% of corporate Excess and Obsolescence exposure in the first 18 months.
